Nomination Guidelines
The Jose Fernandez Memorial Chair was established by the Enrique Chavez Family in recognition of his contributions to the New Mexico State University and the agricultural community. Income from the endowment will be used to provide resources in the College of Agriculture and Home Economics to a faculty member who is engaged in research by experimenting in developing new ideas in field crop production.
Qualifications
The person selected should be a current faculty member whose record demonstrates excellence in field crop research. The person should be actively engaged in aspects of research and technology of crop production. The occupancy of the chair will be for a 3-year term. A faculty member can hold this chair more than once, but not for consecutive terms unless there are no other qualified applicants.
